Harrisonburg Animal Hospital is the longest standing small animal clinic in Harrisonburg.  Our focus is high-quality compassionate care, and long-lasting relationships with our patients and clients.  We pride ourselves on our amazing clientele and long-time employees.  We are seeking an energetic, committed Veterinarian to join our team 40 hours a week.  We do not require after hours on-call, and do not have weekend hours.  Our associates work four days per week.  We are a family-friendly practice that is focused on both our working family but also your family needs.  The hospital was purchased by Dr. Maureen Ward in 2016, who is a 2009 graduate from VMRCVM.  She was awarded the 2022 VVMA Distinguished Veterinarian of the year because of her commitment to her staff, clients, and our community.  Our hospital has won multiple "Best of" awards in our area, because of our awesome team!  Experienced practitioners and new graduates are encouraged to apply.  Our doctors love to discuss cases together, and enjoy mentoring!

Our hospital is equipped with the most advanced equipment and technologies to provide the highest standard of care. For instance, our hospital is equipped with comprehensive in-house IDEXX blood machines, digital radiography, both digital intraoral and panoramic digital dental radiography, ultrasound, two positively pressured surgical suites, dental suite, an independently ventilated isolation room, climate controlled boarding facility, and a full-service pharmacy.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

We are seeking someone to fill a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician position in our fast-paced practice! Our hospital serves Harrisonburg, Rockingham County and beyond. Staff at HAH work in a positive and supportive environment, where personal and professional development are a part of the culture. LVTs work in concert with our Veterinarians to perform surgery, dentistry, and general medical care to our patients.

Generally, duties include:

  • Assist doctors, to include restraining and stabilizing patient during examinations and treatment; using medical equipment properly; cleaning and organizing examination rooms; prepping patients for surgery; administering treatments and injections per doctor’s instructions or treatment form.
  • Perform routine lab procedures and analysis in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology; prepare samples for outside lab analysis.
  • Induce anesthesia and intubate patients; monitor patients under anesthesia.
  • Take patient vital signs, to include temperature, pulse and respiration. Take and develop radiographs. Perform catheterization, both urinary and venous.
  • Fill prescriptions, to include administering rabies vaccines. Maintain pharmacy records, and controlled drug, anesthesia, fecal, and heartworm test logs. Maintain patient charts.
  • Perform dental cleanings.
  • Perform anal gland expressions and nail trims.
  • Provide basic education to clients regarding the patient’s condition and care, nutrition and medical conditions. Explain to clients how to administer medicines at home. Recommend products for optimal wellness, to include dietary products, vitamins and supplements, dental cleaning, flea control, and geriatric care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
